Russell A. Rafton our senior surveyor is proud to become an associate member of the CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building). The CIOB which was founded in 1834 initially as the 'Builders Society' is the world's largest and most influential professional body for construction management and leadership. In 1884 the 'Builders Society' was renamed the 'Institute of builders' with purpose to "promote excellence in the construction of buildings and just and honourable practice in the conduct of business" and In 1965 finally changed name again as it is known today as the Institute of Building. The CIOB achieved royal charter status in 1981 underlying their responsibilities not only to its members but also to the benefit of the public.
The CIOB accredit university degrees, educational courses and training. Their professional and vocational qualifications are a mark of the highest levels of competence and professionalism, providing assurance to clients and other professionals procuring built assets. The CIOB was officially registered as a charity in 1970.
