Pipped at the post.....
"It is not the winning but the taking part that matters" I believe that's the phrase, but being close and receiving feedback on your work really does matter and lifts the spirit. We recently worked on a very interesting project which required expert knowledge and in depth analysis of a property by a specialist to determine exactly what was happening after some confusion between other contractors involved in an insurance claim.
Over a period of weeks we visited the property to undertake investigations to aid our final diagnosis which was produced to our client in a comprehensive report written in a lingo both they and the insurers would be able to understand. Being quite pleased with the outcome we submitted our work to the Property Care Association, for Project of the year award at the 2013 Annual Awards Ceremony.
Each year the PCA hold an Awards Ceremony celebrating the achievements of the association, it's members and progression within the industry. Whilst we've just been informed we had been piped at the post by one of the UK's Largest Waterproofing Specialists "Trace Basements" it was still great to receive positive feedback on our submission.
If you would like to read about the project we have written a few blog articles on the inspection and path to diagnosis, click here;Dryfix Blog

Overall we are happy to be pipped especially by a long standing, credible and professional contractors such as Trace - so well done James and George on your Award.
This year the PCA had the highest number of entries into the awards and although we were (just!) pipped to the post by Trace Basements, our entry received some very good feedback. Some of the comments from the judges were:
Each judge gave an overall mark for each entry and you ranked very very closely to the winning submission so well done – we hope you will consider entering again next year! - PCA
“An interesting case which highlights the professionalism of the company by their use of comprehensive reports written in layman’s language”
“A reasonably complex submission, just limited information outside of project reports”
“It was pleasing to see this firm not fall into the standard ‘rising damp’ explanation for the dampness evident. It was commendable that more in-depth analysis was carried out leading to the diagnosis of flood damage”
