Flood resilience protection to this listed building in the city of York

Like many other parts of the country our City of York is also currently besieged by floodwater which has become a more frequent occurrence in recent years. The effects of rising river levels are devastating to local residents and business which are sited along our river banks. Yesterday following the recent horrific weather from storm Ciara, the water level on the river Ouse peaked at 4.35 meters above normal level according to the Environment Agency data.

Following the floods of 2016 Dryfix installed a water proofing system into Dyls Cafe located on the banks of the river Ouse on Skeldergate Bridge. This is a grade 2 listed building which was flooded almost every year prior to our installation. Yesterday, however, as the water level peaked high above the door threshold the building inside remained safe and dry.

There has been a lot of debate recently on the value of investing in flood protection. For our client despite the storm, heavy rain and flood water, it was business as usual.
