Russell is the owner, director and senior surveyor for Dryfix Preservation Ltd. Russell started life in the construction industry at the age of 16 working for his family business as an apprentice bricklayer. Achieving level three and winning many awards along the way, Russell stayed at York College for a total of seven years completing courses in site management and a Higher National Certificate in construction.
During his time at college, Russell was introduced into the damp, timber and preservation industry which he clearly found interesting and quickly developed a thirst for more knowledge. Russell started his initial training with the PCA (Property Care Association) the industry's leading body. Russell Qualified as a C.S.R.T Surveyor in 2004 and has attended every course since that the PCA have to offer. Russell can, however, still be seen at the PCA headquarters and regional meetings sitting refresher courses and continuing his CPD. After becoming a qualified surveyor, Russell also diversified his career into the closely related water damage and flood recovery industry progressing further with training from the IICRC and BDMA. As you would expect again, Russell achieved outstanding results qualifying in fire and flood restoration, water damage, mould and structural drying.
In 2008, Russell started Dryfix Preservation Ltd, Yorkshire's leading damp and timber repair specialists providing services to councils, housing authorities, property management companies, estate agents and domestic clients. Russell believes the success behind Dryfix is attributed towards his passion for preserving buildings, and willingness to study and be educated.
If you would like to know more about Russell, his training or experience you can contact him at russell@dryfix.net or connect with Russell on LinkedIn (Russell Rafton).

Meet Michelle or Mich as we call her. Michelle joined the team in September 2021 as our new typist and office administrator. Michelle brings a wealth of experience in administration having previously worked for multiple soliciting firms, so keeping our office organised and update is second nature. Michelle's role involves booking surveys, controlling the diary and typing the excellent survey reports which we are so well known for. Chances are if you're calling the office, it'll be Mich you're speaking too recognisable with her uber polite telephone manner.
Word on the street is that Michelle has a cracking singing voice and after a few glasses of champs is no stranger to singing on stage with a band behind her.
