  • View beneath a suspended timber floor with an active woodworm infestation. Here you can clearly see the frass deposits left over by the adult beetles as the chew their way through to the surface of the timber from the pupil chamber with one sole purpose in mind, to find a mate and reproduce. 
  • Extensive infestation by the wood boring pest Common Furniture Beetle Lava causing complete breakdown of this floor board.  
  • Common Furniture Beetle (Anobium punctatum) generally referred to as woodworm. These carcases were found trapped upon insulation within a roof void, an indication of active infestation.  The adult beetles emerge from the timber between the months of May - September therefore your best chance of identifying whether an infestation is active or not is between this period.  If you're unsure, applying paper over the infested timber is a great way of monitoring the infestation as flight holes created during beetle emergence will occur through the paper if the infestation is active.  
  • Telescopic pole camera linked to a recordable DVR monitor used for a sub-floor inspection. In this situation our client suspect a woodworm infestation within the ground floors as they kept finding little brown beetles throughout the property. We were able to confirm the beetles were in fact Anobium punctatum (Common Furniture Beetle) generically referred to as a woodworm, although in this situation inspection to the floors was severely limited due to an engineered oak floor covering which had been laid through the ground floors preventing inspection to the upper floor surfaces and access into the sub-floor. We were however able to inspect the underside of the floor timbers by knocking through the air bricks in the external walls and using a high performance illumined camera fitted to a telescopic pole which allowed a clear inspection of the timbers visible within the sub-floor we were able to locate the infestation.  A video clip of the infestation seen within the sub floor is shown below and within the woodworm category. 
  • Extensive infestation from the Common Furniture Beetle (Anobium punctatum) in this 100mm x 50mm timber joist which has completely lost all integrity. When left untreated woodworm infestation can cause extensive damage to structural timbers such as this which as in this circumstance can be beyond treatment and require replacement. 
  • Fancy a pew on this loo.  This is an image of a heavily infested timber toilet seat. The infestation here is from the Common Furniture Beetle (Anobium punctatum) which is by far the most common wood boring pest in the UK. This pest will infest all kinds of timber from structural timber to furniture, softwoods to hardwoods, painted, varnished or untouched, and even manmade products such as plywood, this little pest is not a fussy eater!!!

The infestation here is from the Common Furniture Beetle (Anobium punctatum) which is by far the most common wood boring pest in the UK. This pest will infest all kinds of timber from structural timber to furniture, softwoods to hardwoods, painted, varnished or untouched, and even manmade products such as plywood, this little pest is not a fussy eater!!! 
  • Common Furniture Beetle (Anobium punctatum) infestation observed within the timber back plate used to support the incoming electrical supply to this property. In this circumstance the timber was heavily infested and required replacement which needed the assistance of the electric suppliers to remove and reinstate the services. Luckily this was identified during a pre-purchase timber survey which allowed the buyer to negotiate the works and costs with the vendor prior to purchase. 
  • View to the underside of floorboards heavily infested by the Common Furniture Beetle (Anobium punctatum). Luckily this infestation was indentified during a pre-purchase timber survey which gave the buyer the opportunity budget/negotiate for any repair/treatment required. 
  • Heavily infested floorboard has completed lost its integrity and could easily be torn apart by hand. Timber in this condition is beyond treatment and requires replacement.
