Flooding Image Gallery

  • This is an image of a bituminous tanking membrane which had been installed over the floor and walls of a property in North Yorkshire which has issues of water ingress due to built up ground adjacent the external walls. The homeowner had instructed a company to water proof the walls where water ingress was occurring only they had failed not only to specify the work correctly but also to implement the repairs which had led to the system failing. Here you can see the tanking membrane which had delaminated from the floor as a result of failing to prepare the floor before its application.  Luckily we can resolve the problem although it will mean undertaking all the repairs again, this time properly.  Always use a member of the Property Care Association. 
  • The basement of this property in York regularly floods as the basement walls are all below ground and earth retaining. During periods of heavy rainfall rainwater saturates the ground externally and the water pressure begins to increase behind the basement walls eventually finding its way into the basement. Water also migrates through original floor slab at the weak junction between the floor and wall due to the water pressure beneath the floor. Regular flooding of this basements prevents it use for anything even storage as any items left within the cellar would be at risk of damage when water ingress occurs or spoiling due to the damp atmosphere.  The cellar does have a drain which you can see has been cast into the wall within the rear left corner in an attempt to help the cellar remove water via natural gravity drainage to a soak away. The only issue is when flooding occurs the ground becomes saturated and natural draining of the cellar is limited. Luckily we can provide a solution to this problem by installing a water management system to the cellar walls and floor allowing this dark and damp cellar to be suitable for storage or even habitable accommodation.

  • Skeldergate on York closed due to severe flooding 2012.  
  • Standing water beneath a timber suspended floor in a York property. Again this is a frequent occurence due to the property being constructed on clay ground.
